“The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.”
– Ayn Rand
Time to change your mindset if you are feeling held back. Stop waiting for someone to “let” you do something. I did this for years, wanting to do a variety of things, but not getting permission by my boss who thought it was his job to network, join professional organizations, entertain clients, own client relationships, etc. So, I didn’t do any of these things. I felt that I needed permission. And certainly, when I became frustrated and did those things without permission, my hand would eventually be slapped. Disappointing at best.
And here I am today, doing all the things I wanted to, both in my own capacity for myself and my growth, but for my new job as well. I am no longer being held back, and I am doing a great job. If I had to wait for someone to let me do the amazing things I’ve done in the last two months, none of it would have been accomplished. No one works for my best interest as much as I do. Also, no one works at my speed for myself.
So, please, get out of my way and just try to stop me. No more being held back! Sorry, not sorry.
